History. Past and present
Font Palomas was founded in 1971 by Jaume Font Palomas, in the heart of Igualada. From its humble beginnings at 44 Calle Germanas Castells, where it entered the world of plush suede, until its transfer in 1978 to 62 Calle Sant Antoni de Baix (its current headquarters), this company has left an indelible mark on the industry.
In 1978, the factory began to diversify its production by producing skirts. This bold decision marked a milestone in the history, making the company the first skirt manufacturer in the country. With a combination of craftsmanship and business vision, the factory quickly established itself as a benchmark in the leather sector.
However, the history of the factory doesn’t stop there. As time went by, the company adapted to the changing demands of the market and decided to specialize in the manufacture of Spanish leather made from bullocks. This strategic move allowed them to enter the world of high-quality footwear and leather goods, where they once again demonstrated their ability to anticipate trends and satisfy the needs of their most demanding customers.
Today, the factory remains a pillar of the city's industry and is successfully run by a second generation under the leadership of Josep Font Bosque. His commitment to excellence, innovation and tradition continues to drive the company's success, ensuring that the legacy started by Jaume Font Palomas lives on.
